He sells cards my Lord

Owner. Business Man. Huddersfield Town Fan. Perhaps the latter being the most important.

Born in Wakefield, 1967, Mr Hoyle, Chairman/Owner of Huddersfield Town and entrepreneur behind the success of the Card-Factory Empire, yields from very humble beginnings.

A former engineering apprentice, Dean, with wife Janet founded “The Card Factory” in 1997 and it was reported that in 2009 the company was employing over 5,000 people across 500 stores. A company that started selling cards from the back of a van, you can’t get much humbler than the back of a van. Fingerless gloves at the ready!

Having personally won more silverware than his beloved Huddersfield, Dean sold the business in 2010, and now relishes at the opportunity to readdress the balance.

I dare to say that when he stood on the terraces of the old Leeds Road ground as a young boy  thoughts of becoming Huddersfield Town Chairman were mere fantasies. But it was his enthusiasm and pragmatic nature that led to this role, characteristics Dean shows again and again in every club decision he makes.

Such decisions as the employment of a foreign First Team Coach for the first time in the club’s history or the latest season ticket pricing structure, marketed as the #Wagnerrevolution

Dean is loved by all Town Fans, myself included. I couldn’t hope for a better Captain to steer the steady ship Huddersfield as we go in search for sunnier waters.

Dean Hoyle not only understands the passion of the fans in the stands, but has the knowledge to make the club is a viable business, so that we can all continue to follow our team for years to come.

Here’s to you Dean, thank you for everything. I couldn’t ask for more. But if you do happen to read this, another striker would be nice. Pretty please?

Ooh to be a…
